Our Sustainability Commitments

Sustainable Innovations

Cutting down on carbon emissions is a top priority, and our Clean Operations initiative aims for carbon neutrality in offices, production environments, and customers’ construction sites. Recognizing our greatest impact is in our products, we support customers in reducing their carbon footprint through Sustainable Innovations and Resource & Climate Solutions.

Many customers have ambitious carbon reduction goals, and we help them achieve these through sustainable products, continuous innovation, and digitization solutions that conserve resources, improve efficiency, and control production with real-time data and analytics. Sustainability is integral to our engagement, enabling us to contribute to a lower carbon economy through collaboration.

By listening to customers and market experts, we drive actions such as transitioning to Net Zero breweries, adopting fermentation technology for alternative proteins, and increasing mechanization in spirits segments, led by our Resource and Climate Solutions and Sustainable Innovations initiatives.

Future Workforce

The success of our group relies on our employees, and our Futureproof Workforce Initiative focuses on training, retaining, and growing diverse teams to meet present and future needs. Our global HR teams implement policies, procedures, and technologies to embrace new ways of working, enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), develop talent, and create career opportunities.

We strive to maintain high standards of corporate governance and ethical business conduct to grow our business responsibly and remain a trusted partner. Our renewed Code of Conduct sets global standards for engaging with all stakeholders, empowering and training our team in good business practices amid rapidly evolving regulations and conditions.

Safe & Healthy Workplace

Our advanced facilities and technologies are important assets, but it is our people who make the true difference. As a group, we make sure that our customers can count on the talent and commitment of dedicated professionals.

A key value in delivering to our employees and customers is our commitment to ensuring the occupational health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, contractors and visitors at our offices, fabrication shops, and construction sites with the goal of zero harm to all that are affected by our actions and decisions. We will continuously improve our performance in finding safer ways to manufacture and distribute our products and services.

Responsible business conduct

As sustainability rules rapidly evolve, we uphold high standards of corporate governance to grow responsibly and remain a trusted partner. Ethical business conduct is crucial in today’s dynamic economic and geopolitical environment. Our culture emphasizes going beyond expectations, communicated and practiced both top-down and bottom-up.

We continuously empower and train our team in ethical practices. These principles are outlined in our renewed Code of Conduct, setting global standards for engaging with colleagues, customers, suppliers, communities, authorities, and other stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment in our operations.

Clean Operations

Cutting down on the carbon emissions of our own operations is one of our top priorities. In the Clean operations initiative, we are focused on achieving carbon neutrality in our offices, production environments as well as at our customers’ construction sites.

We continue to implement the reduction plans developed for our own offices and production
environments, focused on gains in efficiency and reduction in water & energy usage and associated Greenhouse Gas emissions.

We recognise that our greatest environmental impact lies within the products and solutions we provide to our customers. Our approach to supporting our customers in reducing their carbon footprint is further explained in the Sustainable Innovations and Resource & Climate Solutions pillars.

Resource & Climate Solutions

Sustainability is a core principle in our customer interactions and product offerings. We aim to contribute to a lower-carbon future by collaborating across various expertise fields.

By actively listening to customers and industry experts, we identify key needs and take action. Examples include transitioning to Net Zero breweries, fermentation tech for alternative proteins, and mechanization for specific spirits.

Making a positive impact beyond our operations

At the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21) of 2015 in Paris, 196 parties agreed on the goal to hold “the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels” and pursue efforts “to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.” This means that global emission should be reduced by 45% in 2030 compared to 1990 levels and Net Zero by 2050.

Ziemann Holvrieka supports the ambitions of the Paris Climate Agreement by enabling breweries, distilleries, food and pharmaceutical production facilities to reach Net Zero, both in their own operations and in their value chains. Therefore, our ambition is to provide customers with Net Zero solutions ahead of schedule and become Net Zero by 2040.
